Rogue Anti Virus Software
Internet security experts keep banging the drum about
'due diligence' but despite doing all the right things,
people are still being scammed and duped by rogue
antivirus and anti spyware software.
Imagine this; you are working on your computer and
a window pops up warning you of some sort of security
threat on your computer - any one of the many nasty
gremlins that find their way on to computers to destroy
and steal information.
You might be thankful for this alarm, even surprised
that you didn't know it was on your computer, but
impressed how discreet it is, keeping out of sight
and out of mind until the enemy attack!
Or, you are a little suspicious simply because you
were not aware of this antivirus/spyware on your computer...and
this is where 'due diligence' comes in. You make a
note of the name or brand and do a search.
The results are very impressive!, rave reviews about
it, comments and recommendations in forums etc - the
antivirus/antispyware on your computer appears to
be legitimate and judging the positive reviews, it
is the best thing since sliced bread.
time to prefix the word 'Rogue' to 'antispyware'
because that is exactly what it is. Rogue antispyware
and antivirus software uses fake security alerts and
system warnings to frighten people into buying the
software, which is an infection in itself.
